LWML FL-GA DISTRICT 33RD BIENNIAL CONVENTION

The 2012 Convention theme is Philippians 2:14-16a, “Do everything without complaining or
arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked
and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word

Keynote Speaker: Virginia Von Seggern, LWML President from 1999-2003. Currently serving as a member of the
following foundations/boards: Lutheran Hour Ministries Foundation; Lutheran Bible Translators, Nebraska District
Board of Directors; and the Lutheran Ministry Foundation of the Nebraska District.
LWML Representative: Caroline Blum, Vice President of Organizational Resources, will attend the convention as
the LWML representative. Active in LWML since 1996 when she was a delegate to the South Wisconsin District LWML
convention, she has since served as District President, Associate and News Editor of the Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly,
and as a Mission-Ministry Vision Consultant.
Guest Speaker: Cynthia Khan was born and raised in Pakistan. Having lived in four countries and personally dealt
with the people and issues she now raises awareness about, she now resides in Troy, Michigan but is still a dedicated
global citizen, serving as Director of Women and Youth Ministries through human care services.

Servant Events: Friday, September 28. Those participating will make plastic bag sleeping mats for the homeless
in the Tampa area and snuggly dolls for premature infants in Orlando. Fee: $10 per person.
Mission Pledge Walk: Saturday morning, 6:30 a.m.; pledges to benefit District Mission Grants.
Gifts from the Heart/Ingathering: Shoes and clothing, toilet articles, towels, sheets, and household items –
all in good condition – for Matthew’s Hope, Orlando. All cash donations will go to Lutheran Services of Georgia.
