Have a Society or Zone Event or Ministry to Share
The purpose of this page is to provide a way for us as sisters in Christ to stay in touch. It is meant to offer a vehicle by which we can encourage one another and share ideas. A space has been reserved for your zone to summarize events such as Rallies, Workshops, Retreats, Prayer Services, Joy Days, LWML Sunday, Mission Sundays, etc. Photos may be submitted. Individual societies may also contribute by sharing Bible Study resources, member development and fund-raising ideas, mite initiatives, craft projects, recipes for large gatherings, etc. Send submissions via email to Carol Alberts. Be sure to include photos as an attachment.

News from Orlando West:
On April 12th, Christ the King Lutheran Church in Orlando hosted the Spring Zone Rally for the Orlando West Zone. It was a celebration of “Christian Sisterhood, Then and Now.” The Bible Study/Program focused on Christian Sisterhood from four perspectives: in the home, at church, at work and in the community. There were four skits depicting New Testament women in various scenarios suggested by scripture. Lois and Eunice dealt with empty nest syndrome following Timothy’s departure to work with Paul in the mission field. Syntyche and Euodia (mentioned in Philippians 4:2-3) dealt with conflict between sisters in the church. Lydia spoke to her employees following her conversion (Acts 16:14-15). Dorcas shared her love and service to her community as described in Acts 9. Several ladies in the zone enjoyed portraying these New Testament women, in costume. Following each skit we discussed modern day applications of the messages brought by our sisters of the past and the women were encouraged to think of women in their lives that need their support, love, forgiveness, prayers and help as they practice Christian Sisterhood in the home, church, work and community. Activities following the program were well received. They included: making zipper pulls for their handbags with lettered beads spelling out sisterhood and different colored beads representing the seven churches in our zone and a purple for LWML; and making a Christian Sisterhood booklet containing pages titled to correspond with the Bible Study/ Program. Action words (such as serve, love, support, listen and pray) were chosen to add to the pages along with a place for them to indicate what Christian sister they would pray for in the home, at church, at work and in the community. Gifts of the Heart went to “Kid’s Focus” a tutoring program for children Kindergarten through Third Grade operating within the West Orange Christian Service Center. LWML gives us many opportunities to enjoy and exercise Christian Sisterhood and it turned out to be a great theme for a Zone Rally. I would be happy to share copies of the resources we used if there is interest in adopting this theme at other Zone Rallies in the District. Just give me a call at (352) 728-6198 or Email me at nsven5@embarqmail.com. In His Love, Nancy Svenonius Orlando West Zone President Space Coast News:
The Space Coast Zone will be encouraging our newest Young Women’s Representative, Juanita Chirikas, at the upcoming district convention in September. Juanita comes to us via Risen Savior in Palm Bay, FL. She is the mother of two boys and is involved in the Daughters of Ruth at Risen Savior. She also serves on the Worship Team there along with her husband, Jim. Recently at Risen Savior in Palm Bay, the Daughters of Ruth put on a play as a fundraiser. They raised funds to send delegates to the District Convention in September. The play was performed by the “Risen Savior Not Too Ready Players” entitled, “Don’t Kick The Turkeys.” It was a very very funny play (the cast couldn’t get through the rehearsal without laughing) and the performances were great! It basically was about a pastor who went to a church where no one wanted to be the pastor. The play consisted of a very opinionated secretary, the bossy church lady, a duct tape loving janitor, the choir director, the pastor, a weird congregation member and an angel. By the end of the play, things had changed in that church for the better.
