Share your Society or Zone Event with all of us.

The purpose of this page is to provide a way for us as sisters in Christ to stay in touch. It is meant to offer a vehicle by which we can encourage one another and share ideas. A space has been reserved for your zone to summarize events such as Rallies, Workshops, Retreats, Prayer Services, Joy Days, LWML Sunday, Mission Sundays, etc. Photos may be submitted. Individual societies may also contribute by sharing Bible Study resources, member development and fund-raising ideas, mite initiatives, craft projects, recipes for large gatherings, etc. Send submissions via email to
Carol Alberts.  Be sure to include photos as an attachment.

Space Coast Zone:

Many of us would not be able to be as active in LWML as we are  without the encouragement of our husbands.  These three hubbies, wearing their LWML ties, were spotted at the memorial service for Glenn Karrick, beloved huband of our dear LWML sister Mary Karrick.  Thanks, guys, for your love and support!

UPDATE - LWML GRANT "THE CARPENTER'S HANDS - YOUTH REFURBISH HOMES IN FLORIDA"

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) voted at the Portland LWML Convention in June 2009 to grant $26,000 to provide a used van outfitted with tools that are needed for the work of “The Carpenter’s Hands.”   Eighty grant requests had been received and 28 were chosen to be on the ballot.   This project received the third highest number of votes at the Convention.   Teens from Grace Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL who want to make life better for those in their community are involved in this group under the direction of Youth Director Carl Schleede and adult volunteers. They repair the inside and outside of homes of elderly people who, because of physical or financial difficulties, cannot do it themselves.

November 22, 2009 was a day for celebration as LWML President Jan Wendorf presented a check to Rev. Kevin Loughran, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in payment of this grant, during the 11:00 AM worship service. She quoted James 1:22, But be doers of the Word and not hearers only. She commended the group for their work in helping those in need in the St. Petersburg area. FL-GA District President Marilyn Treanor and others were also in attendance and at the reception following.

After the grant check presentation, Director Schleede shared a letter from one of the recipients: “My dad died. Then I was involved in a major accident … suffered six broken ribs, a broken sternum, shattered the right knee, tore the left shoulder, had several herniated discs and suffered a severe head injury. It took five months to learn to walk and nine months to make my mouth say what my mind was thinking. I had short-term memory loss. I could not work and my husband was working two jobs to make ends meet. My faith became weak and I wondered about my God.” The recipient concludes: “Then you, Carl, knocked at our door. Through your act of service and the team that you have brought in to help my family, our hope is being restored, a new foundation is being built, the coldness of my heart is melting away, and again I am finding the way … in the small and large things the group is doing for me, my husband and three children … I am slowly seeing that God is real … God does hear me and is concerned for me … Thank you from the very depths of my heart, a place that I haven’t visited in a long time!”
