Orlando East and Orlando West Zones are busily preparing to host the upcoming FL-GA LWML Convention.

Keynote Speaker will be Reverend Dr. Robert Roegner, Executive Director of LCMS World Mission.

LWML President Jan Wendorf will be one of the speakers.

Servant Events on Friday will include several hands-on projects plus a blood drive.

Mission Pledge Walk will be held on Sunday morning. Pledge funds will be designated toward the 2008-2010 Mission Goal.

BEAUTIFUL FEET ON A BEAUTIFUL MISSION IN KENYA, AFRICA

At Orlando airport upon returning from Kenya.

Marilyn H. Treanor, our Membership Resources Chairman, recently was part of a mission team of 8 U. S. women sponsored by LCMS World Missions to Kenya, Africa.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya (ELCK) requested a team of women to work with other women in their church in the areas of Bible study, outreach, learning to be effective caregivers, and assisting in establishing self-help projects. The women from the United States were in Nairobi and surrounding areas to provide encouragement, leadership and training to women’s groups in the local churches. The trip had originally been planned for January, however the civil unrest in Nairobi forced postponement until March.

In addition to Marilyn’s current District position, she is an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Melbourne, FL, LWML Mission Ministry Vision Consultant and served as 2005 Tampa LWML National Convention Chairman. The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), with a membership of over 250,000, is the official women’s organization of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. For over 65 years the organization has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global missions.
